Tyler County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 21,766. Its seat is Woodville. Tyler County is named for John Tyler, the 10th President of the United States.
Despite its name, Tyler County does not contain the city of Tyler, Texas; the latter is located about 140 miles to the north in Smith County.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 936 square miles (2,420 km2), of which 925 square miles (2,400 km2) are land and 11 square miles (28 km2) (1.2%) are covered by water.
